Venice Venezia Lido (c.1930) Original Italian Travel Advertising Poster by Marcello Dudovich & Marcello Nizzoli
Commissioned by ENIT – Italian Government Tourist Board, this elegant c.1930 Italian travel advertising poster was created by two of Italy’s most celebrated graphic artists, Marcello Dudovich and Marcello Nizzoli, to promote the fashionable seaside destination of Lido di Venezia.
A superb example of Art Deco travel poster design, the composition features a stylish woman in a bathing suit looking toward the iconic skyline of Venice. Combining glamour, sophistication, bold colors, and geometric forms, the poster perfectly captures the elegance of interwar European tourism and the timeless appeal of Venice as a destination of beauty, leisure, and refinement.
Marcello Dudovich is regarded as one of the greatest figures in Italian poster art, celebrated for his refined decorative style and exceptional sense of composition. Marcello Nizzoli, who later became internationally known for his pioneering industrial designs for Olivetti, brought a modernist influence and architectural precision to the work. Together, they created a striking visual symbol of Italian graphic excellence and the golden age of travel advertising.
