Captain is an Iranian drama film directed by Mohammad Hamzehei and produced by Seyed Saber Emami. The screenplay was written by Amir Mohammad Abdi. Focusing on pediatric cancer patients and honoring the role of nurses, the film presents a humanistic narrative centered on resilience, empathy, and ethical challenges within the medical environment.
The film premiered at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival in the Sodaye Simorgh category and is produced by Farabi Cinema Foundation. Featuring performances by Pantea Panahiha and Pejman Bazeghi, Captain highlights themes related to healthcare, moral responsibility, and the efforts of medical staff.
The official synopsis reads: “They call me Isa; I do whatever I want.” The story follows two boys, Isa and Ali, who are hospitalized in a pediatric oncology ward and dream of becoming football players. Determined to fulfill their dream before Ali’s final major surgery, they secretly attempt to make it happen despite medical restrictions.
Following delays in theatrical release, the film became available through online streaming in 2024.
